Grai St. Clair Rice presents her poster Summer Bee / Winter Bee: Physiological & Temporal Comparisons at the 2025 Apimondia Conference in Copenhagen
Apimondia, the International Federation of Beekeepers’ Associations, is a global organization that brings together beekeepers, scientists, equipment manufacturers, and others working across the apiculture sector to share research, knowledge, and practical insights.
St. Clair Rice's research (Poster #PP-458), on display Friday, September 26, and Saturday, September 27, explores how environmental and social cues influence gene expression in honey bees, resulting in distinct seasonal phenotypes. Her work connects recent findings in bee epigenetics with hands-on beekeeping strategies, highlighting the importance of vitellogenin, juvenile hormone, and fat body health in supporting colony survival through winter.
